
Anna Ceesay
Biography
Anna is a media and communications consultant with over 13 years of experience, living in The Gambia with her husband and two children. She is the Founder & CEO of Fabella Communications, a consultancy specialising in global storytelling from The Gambia—“Fabella” meaning “story” in Latin. A former BBC journalist, Anna is passionate about storytelling, believing it lies at the heart of great communications. Under her leadership, Fabella has delivered projects across The Gambia, Benin, Morocco, Uganda, and Sierra Leone, serving diverse industries including global health, education, technology, gender justice, media, leadership, international development, the creative sector, agriculture, and government, and collaborating with UN agencies such as UN Women and UNDRR. The firm focuses on building communications strategies, brand positioning and development, conceptualising creative content, overseeing production of design, photography, and video assets, creating websites, facilitating media and communications training, assisting with in-house comms recruitment, and running global media campaigns, with clients featured on international outlets including BBC World Service News, Forbes Africa, and Al Jazeera. Anna has also worked individually with UNDP, UNICEF, and UNFPA, and maintains a pan-African network in media and communications, volunteering as a mentor for The Comms Avenue in Nigeria and speaking at the inaugural Africa Global PR Week summit in Nairobi in August 2025. She has a special interest in gender equality and justice, and while her portfolio is diverse, she is committed to helping clients deliver tangible social impact.
